The Vagabond Inn Convention Center Long Beach receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, consistently citing issues of cleanliness, pests (mice, roaches, waterbugs), disturbing noise levels, and poor staff service. While the location is considered a positive, these significant problems severely detract from the overall experience. Recent reviews highlight a dramatic decline in property upkeep and a concerning increase in disruptive behavior.
The walls are pretty nasty in the bathroom. Put a towel inside the shower floor. Funny odor, doesn't stink but id prefer it not there. AC is super loud with a constant hmmmmm sound if on. Lil musty. Would not stay here again
Okay. Location is good close distance to everything. But they had mice!!!! Went to the breakfast room that was gross just like the rest of the place and seen a mouse running around on the ground! I told the manager (or owner) at the front desk they have mice and he straight ignored me. Didn't say a single word and left me just standing there while he went about his business.
It's $90 a night vs. $250+, deal with it. The building is old. I spent a week here for a conference. I am vegan and didn’t bother with the breakfast. It was a decent place to sleep and occasionally wash my body.
This was easily the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here. Throughout the night, I was woken up multiple times between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM. The walls are incredibly thin, honestly thinner than 2-ply toilet paper, and you can hear everything happening in the hallway. The environment felt chaotic and uncomfortable. At one point, children were running through the halls and screaming late into the night until someone finally yelled around 3:00 AM for them to stop. Around 4:00 AM, I was startled awake by someone aggressively banging on a door, repeatedly yelling, “Give me my phone back” for several minutes. The banging became louder and more intense, and it genuinely felt concerning. The type of people and behavior encountered here says a lot about the place. On top of that, the room quality was poor, and the stairwells smelled strongly like urine. Overall, this was a disgusting experience, and I would not recommend staying here.
It was ok, just okay. No mini fridge for the room, no microwave either. Breakfast. Was bare bones just some apples and bananas, cherios, frosted flakes with a pitcher of milk. And some mini croissants and bread with a toaster. I ended up eating out every morning. The hotel staff were friendly. And its by a lot of good food restaurants.
I liked the fact that it was in walking distance to the downtown area just in case I didn't want to drive or just wanted to walk to the beach or even down to the Pike and Shoreline area. It was quiet, clean and in a pretty cool part of downtown, and also reasonably priced .. I'd definitely visit again!!
WORST RECEPTION EVER I went to check a room for one night and received the worst service of my life. When I presented my card, the front desk clerk was extremely rude. He said he needed to confirm that the card was mine, even though I was using Apple Pay, which makes no difference at all to the hotel. Anyone can book a room, and it’s not required that the card used belongs to the guest. The card was mine, it was on my phone, and still he insisted that I had to “prove” that my Apple Pay was mine. I asked to see photos of the rooms, and he responded very rudely, saying: “Do you think these people would stay in bad rooms?” while pointing at other guests. I felt extremely embarrassed. I simply wanted to know what the room looked like. He could have shown me photos, explained the room, or at least politely said, “You can check the website.” Instead, he chose to be disrespectful. He was unbelievably rude. I do not recommend this place to anyone. It is much better to spend your money somewhere that treats guests with respect. There are many better places, and even if they are more expensive, I would a million times rather spend my money elsewhere. That front desk clerk clearly has no ability to work with guests if he doesn’t know how to welcome them. A complete horror show. A horrible human being.
Elevator permit expired 3 years ago, breakfast didn't have anything but bread, crossiants and coffee. The parking was frustrating, we aren't told that it was 1 vehicle per room till we were checking in. They put a sign up the day after stating that and that if the lot is filled, you would have to find somewhere else to park.
This place really sucks, the cleanliness of this place could be better. Black mold all over the window and bathroom. Bathtub drain broken. Stains on the sheets. Elevator is a safety hazard. They charged $30 extra dollars to check in early. Also very sketchy at night. Only good thing is it's walking distance to the beach.
The front desk clerk was polite. Other than that. It's one of worst I've stayed. The bathroom was a disaster. Rusty towl racks, sink with a whole, shower tile was crusty with something black. I would of left however it was a long day of fly with a toddler.
